Your child has been drafted to Western Allied 50/70 baseball team. For the few of you that don’t know me, my name is James Kastelic, and I will be managing the team with Mike Amoroso as my coach. Mike and I have many years of experience in this league and outside this league coaching all levels of youth baseball.
We will be looking for parent volunteers to help with practices and games. We will need a team parent and volunteers to help set up and take down the fence at McGarvey. It takes many volunteers to make the season a success and we hope that we can count on your help in some way.
Mike and I have some expectations for parents and players. We will conduct ourselves in a professional and positive manner, and hope that your kids and you parents will do the same. We will put the needs of the kids on our team first and will do everything we can to make this season a positive one where every kid has a chance to progress.
The coaching staff’s main goals for this year are to continue to teach your player how to play the game the right way, and to do it with integrity and class. We may not win every game, but we will be the team that hustles the most, and plays with respect, for their teammates, the opposition, and the umpires. This extends to you as parents - you are the role models for your kids, on and off the field.
The season is already upon us and we have our first practice this upcoming Saturday 2/15 at 2:30pm on McGarvey Field. I will also be holding a quick parent meeting this Saturday towards the end of practice at 3:45pm. Please have at least one parent present for this meeting.
Our practice schedule is posted online and and can be viewed from the link below.
Please have your players fully equipped and in baseball attire (hat, glove, cup, baseball pants, belt, turf shoes/cleats, bat, helmet). Please have your son bring a water bottle as well.
Please make sure you are connecting on the rwcll.org website to get all information about our season (I find it helpful to subscribe to the team calendar so that all team/league activities show up on my phone).
We are looking forward to a great season of baseball!
