[AAA Barrett/Daines] Thank You! Playoffs & Tournaments coming up
by posted 06/08/2022

Hi Team,

I wanted to thank you all for the gift cards and autographed baseball, that was very kind of y'all.  While our record didn't reflect it, I believe we had a really good year.  Each player improved their skill level and gained confidence in this crazy hard game and we got to knock a team out of the playoff tournament!  Some of us will move on to Majors next season and some will continue in (AAA), but I hope ALL of you come back to play RWCLL next season.

RWCLL will be offering Fall Ball baseball, which will run from September-November, and more info will come out on that later this month.

I want to congratulate Hannah and Ethan for making RWCLL's post season District 52 tournament rosters.

Hannah will be on our Minors Super Bowl team, comprised of 9, 10 & 11 year olds from our (AAA) division.  Super Bowl will be held in Pacifica and is a one weekend tournament June 18th - 21st.

Ethan will be on our 10U All Star team, comprised of 9 & 10 year olds from (AAA).  10U All Stars runs June 25th - July 6th in San Mateo.

RWCLL will also field All Star teams in the 11U, Majors and 50/70 Divisions.

Redwood City will play host to the 50/70 All Star Tournament  Friday June 17th  - Thursday June 23rd @ McGarvey Field in Red Morton park for those looking to watch more baseball.

Championship Saturday is this Saturday in Red Morton Park.   While our exit from the tournmament has been bittersweet, it has allowed me to be a spectator this week watching some amazing games.

- This past Saturday we watched Ethan's brothers Majors team (Minitti), beat an undeafted Valley Oil team 1-0, knocking them to the losers bracket.

- Later that day in (AAA), the Blazers knocked Affrunti to the losers bracket.

- Last night, Colton and I watched Affrunti overcome a 6 run deficit to knock Worthington out of the playoffs.

- Blazers vs Affrunti this Saturday 10am @ Kiwanis Field.

- Valley Oil Majors won their losers bracket game last night, and will face off again vs Minitti @ 1pm on Kiwanis Field.

Red Morton will also host the following games on Saturday, so come on out and enjoy the last day of the 2022 Spring Season.

- (AA) All League game at 9:00am on Bechet Field

- (A) All League game at 10:30am on Bechet Field

- Tee Ball All League game at 11:30am on Bechet Field

- Wiffle Ball final game at 12:30pm on Bechet Field

There is always a ton of kids watching the games or playing wiffle ball, or pickle, or grabbing something from the Snack Shack. Griff and I will be down there most of they day, so come on down!

[AAA Barrett/Daines] Picture Day Saturday: 8:50am arrival
by posted 04/25/2022

Pictures and Hit A Thon this weekend, No Game

-------

Hi Team,

We have Pictures and Hit-A-Thon this weekend. Hit-A-Thon is the only fundraiser RWCLL does, so all donations to the Leaue are appreciated.  It helps maintain the equipment at all the fields, the pitching machine/balls/nets/etc... in the cages, etc...

You should have received emails detailing both events, please read those so you know what to fill out / bring, etc...

There will not be a game on Saturday, but I did schedule an optional batting practice right after Hit A Thon.

Saturday Schedule:

- Pictures will be at 9:05am  (8:50am arrival) @ Kiwanis Field

- Hit A Thon will be 9:35am @ McGarvey Field.

- Optional Batting Practice 10:00am - 11:00am @ Byrnes Cages

Thanks

[AAA Barrett/Daines] Game #6, 4:45pm warmups @ Kennedy tonight
by posted 04/05/2022

Hi Team,

4:45pm warmups, 5:30pm first pitch tonight at Kennedy.

We are the Home Team, will occupy the first base dugout and setup the field prior to the game.

The 35 pitch count limit has been lifted, but we will not be having the kids throw anywhere close to the 75-85 limit.

Tonight's lineup below, as always will need to move players around as needed, and Coaches have the final say of where and when a player plays.    We are missing three tonight, so no one will be on the bench.

[RWCLL Barrett/Daines] Welcome to the 2022 Season of RWCLL!
by posted 02/01/2022

Hi Team,  welcome to the 2022 Season of Redwood City Little League!

I am Oak Barrett, and along with Colton Daines we will be coaching your daughters and sons this Spring 2022 Season of (AAA) Introduction to Kid Pitch.

Colton and I both grew up playing Little League in Redwood City, our families are deeply rooted in this town and we are honored that we get to coach your athletes this spring.

We both coached (AAA) last year (on opposing teams), but this year we joined forces and are excited to teach those coming up from (AA), those returing from (AAA) those brand new to baseball on the field and learning how to get better at this game...

We will have a parent meeting in the coming weeks to set expectations for all,  but at a high level we will focus on a handful of areas this season:

- respect of teammates, opponents, umpires and the game of baseball

- physical and mental wellbeing of the players

- the fundamentals of how to play this game

- fun..  we will have fun!

Our first practice is scheduled for this Saturday Feb. 5th, 10:30am - 12:00pm  at Kennedy Middle School.

We will get the teammates introduced, and go through some basic drills to evaluate where the skilll level of the team is at, and what type of practice plans Colton and I will put together to get each player better this season.

For those not familar with the field and Kennedy Middle School, it is best accessed at the corner of Goodwin and Maddux.. (not Washington/Maddux).

Our full team schedule, roster, etc... can be found on our team page of the

RWCLL website:   https://www.leagueathletics.com/Bulletins.asp?MyTeam=994949&org=rwcll.org

Schedule:

While our first gameis a month away,  we will have 3 practices a week to get ready for the Spring Season.

- Monday's will typically be field practices at Kennedy (focus on throwing, infield, outfield, pitching, base running, maybe some hitting)

- Friday's will be Batting Cage practices at Red Morton Park (focus hitting... with some pitching and fielding)

- Saturdays will be field practices at Kennedy, only until games begin next month.... then Saturdays are game days.

Equipment:

Family supplied equipment:  (if you are missing any of this for Saturday, please still come to practice)

- Mitt

- Batting Helmet

- Bat  (Optional, but prefered:   if you do not have a bat, please wait on purchasing...  i have a few to try out and you can see what size fits your athlete the best...  and i bring those to practices and games for use)

- Cleats (no metal spikes)

- Protective cup (boys)

- Batting gloves (optional)

- Water

- Sweathshirt/Jacket during cool temps

League supplied equipment:

- hat, jersey, belt, socks

- pants:   game pants will be available at Goetz Bros. Sporting Goods in San Carlos in the coming weeks

Volunteers Needed:

- scorekeepers

- team parents

- umpire advocates

- assistant coaches  (we have 12 kids on the team... if we can have 4 coaches with 3 kids per practice drill, the amount of repititions and pracitces these kids will get will be amazing...    2 coaches / 12 kids... not as amazing...  please help, Colton and I will provide all the guidance you need.... we just need volunteers.)

- field preperation / clean up crews (the infield needs prep before / after each practice and game, dragging, chalking, watering, etc... ...  the more time spent by the coaches, the less time spent with kids)

You are unable to be on the playing field or interact with the kids during practices/games if you are not registered with RWCLL.

It takes a few minutes, please do so..

Please help the team out and register to volunteer:   https://www.leagueathletics.com/Registration/Restrictions.asp?RegID=309851&n=61829&org=rwcll.org

Thanks y'all...  we look forward to meeting the 2022 team!

Coach Oak & Coach Colton
