End of Year Tournament

Happy Monday, Redwood City Little League Families!

The League hopes everyone has enjoyed the 2023 Spring season thus far. As the regular season is winding down, we are entering the end of year tournament (playoffs) for our AA, AAA, Majors, and Juniors divisions. Our Juniors tournament began last week while AAA & Majors begin today with AA beginning next week (click me for the schedule).

This is an incredibly fun part of the Little League season as the development of the players in these divisions really begin to show during this time of year where we get to experience some really good baseball games.

So, if you have free time and are looking for something to do before the holiday or afterwards (the tournament will end on Championship Saturday, 6/10), please come out and support a team or two.

With that, if you are attending games, please remember the Umpires are 99.5% kids who are generally 9 - 14 years old and though they are trained and responsible, they are kids.

If you are a Coach, Parent, Sibling, Friend, or Relative, please do your darndest to not challenge an Umpire's call -- these are kids and they can be discouraged and influenced by adults where they may change their calls or they may change the way they call plays to not get yelled at or challenged by an adult.

If there is a questionable call, the Coaches from each team should get together and ask the umpires to clarify the call but the Coaches should not ask for a call to be changed -- simply ask the Umpires for clarification of the call or rule but do not go further. I'm being reptitive on purpose. :) Sometimes there could be a disagreement between Umpires and in that case, the Coaches (not the Fans) should ask the Umpires to discuss among themselves.

This is Little League and it is intended to be a League for development of baseball but also fun where the players get to be outside with their friends and family and learn how to work with others by playing a game. Wins and losses will come and go but the memories will last forever so please help us in creating a super fun, positive tournament environment by respecting the community -- the Coaches (who are volunteers), Fans, Players and the Umpires. We want the Players to learn and grow and come back -- likewise, we want the same for our Coaches & Umpires.

For those participating in the tournament, bring your best attitude & effort but most importantly, HAVE FUN!

I have a habit of rambling and writing books so I'll stop now...Play ball!

Best,
Dan
RWCLL President (Volunteer)
